Yorkshire Engagement Photography for Kathrine & Chris. This lovely couple got in touch last spring to book me as their Wedding photographer for their wedding at The Hospitium, York in autumn 2020. I love shooting weddings at The Hospitium. Set in The Museum Gardens its the most beautiful setting and venue. You can see some wedding photography from The Hospitium, on my blog here.
Covid 2020
Shortly after they booked for their autumn wedding the lockdown struck. Suddenly we all knew about Covid19. Lets just say it played havoc with wedding season 2020. Fast forward to autumn. A lot of daily walks, a lot of postponed weddings. Infact I feel like postponed weddings is the story of 2020 for me! Because their wedding could not happen as planned we decided that on their original date we would go and make some lovely memories with an engagement shoot.
Beautiful Autumn Engagement shoot
Im so glad that we did! Having to postpone your wedding is not a a job anyone really wants to do. These guys decided to postpone till march 2021… As the summer rolled on and restrictions were conformed to be in place for a while yet they decided to postpone again till 2022. Its so easy to feel disheartened and frustrated at the situation that it totally out of our control. I defiantly think having the engagement shoot was a lovely and really uplifting thing to do. So they dint get married on that date but they did get to spend a lovely weekend together in York. The Autumn colours were amazing – no better place to be than in the forest!
Strensall CommonCommon Engagement shoot
We did this shoot at a spot I have only driven past before. Strensall Common– I always thought it looked good so when they suggested something out of the city I was super excited to take an adventure here. Strensall Common is only a short drive from York city centre but has all the country feels. In autumn its just lovely with some great colours.
Pre wedding shoots
Lots fo couples are not sure if they want a pre wedding shoot or not. Like everything to do with your wedding it a pretty personal decision. They are a little more posey than your wedding day – but there is no reason for them to be stuffy or awkward. Its actually a really lovely way to get use to being in front of the camera and also create some special memories of the two of you. If you considering one – you can read more in my blog here.
