Harrogate Micro Wedding Yorkshire Wedding photography
2020 saw the birth of the Micro Wedding. The restrictions in place due to the Covid pandemic meant that wedding guest numbers were limited. Throughout the year it changed. Sometimes it was 6 guests, sometimes it was 15.
This meant that couples had the tricky decision. Postponing the wedding or cutting down the number of guests. These small weddings have become know as a micro wedding.
More that half of my couples who had planned to get marries in 2020 Postponed. Some didn’t want to wait got married. These small micro wedding celebrations were rays on light during an otherwise dark time.
Pandemic wedding Planning
During the restrictions there was different teirs and rules that kept chasing – making it difficult to plan any kind of wedding. Emma & Tom decided that they wanted to get married and would have a larger celebration in the future when restrictions would allow.

Church Micro Wedding
Their wedding ceremony took place in St Jame’s church in Birstwith . The Rules at the time was for 30 guests only. As they had maxed out on the numbers they said I could not photograph the ceremony but could shoot the shots after. As a photopjournliast I knew that even not being about to photograph the wedding ceremony I could be able to capture lots to tell the story of the day.
Lucky with the bling weather the church has its windows and doors open. this beautiful church had a door right at the back is the isle – meaning that I could get some photos of the bride and groom from my spot outside the church. This made me super happy !
After the ceremony and some family photos there was s small drinks reception in the sunshine.
