The villagers were really lovely in the run up to the wedding: tidying the church yard, cleaning the church inside, writing our names on the board outside the church etc.
Weston Underwood Old Post Office: this was where we had our photos taken amongst the tulips and Pat, John and Mark Covington were really accommodating.
Newton Park Barn – this was a pure blank canvas. We did everything from change the colour of the carpet to attach a marquee to the front!
Review:
I would like to start by saying how much I enjoyed having Bethany with us on our wedding day. From the moment she arrived she really put me at ease (I’m not good in front of a camera!) and she took all of the photographs in a very relaxed and understated way which suited me perfectly. Lots of guests (both within and outside of the wedding party) comment on her: how she worked, the number of photos she took, and how friendly and approachable she was. Ahead of the wedding, I was keen to avoid all of the usual clichés: the getting ready shots; the dress reveal shots; photos of the dress and veil. I knew that Bethany would be the perfect person to take my wedding photos because – whilst I have seen beautiful photos of these very things – the majority of her photos are candid, reportage-style images that tell a story. I didn’t want the fluidity of a wedding video; I wanted to have gaps in my my memory of the day as would occur naturally. Beth’s classic, timeless style of photography was very much inkeeping with my slightly old-fashioned approach to the wedding, and has made looking back over the day feel like looking through the reel of a vintage romantic movie! I am really delighted with the photos – particularly with the ones that are taken in that natural style as they really do show the best version of ourselves! Speaking to Bethany ahead of the wedding was always very reassuring: she didn’t mind me explaining any worries or insecurities I had, and actually said that it’s helpful to know before she takes the photos. Throughout the day, I really do feel as though she knew me very well as the advice she gave me helped me avoid some of the awkwardness that I was dreading seeing in myself! I would highly recommend Bethany, as come rain or shine, you’ll have a timeless edit of your wedding to treasure. I really do hope that I find an opportunity to cross paths with her again: perhaps in the event of children I will arrange another shoot with her as the pictures of children that I have seen are just as beautiful as many of the wedding shoots. Thank you Bethany, it was so nice to meet you and have you document our wedding.
